Sketch a Day - Day 37

Tonight my husband surprised me with a trip to the 'brand new' old Big Four Bridge that crosses the Ohio River from my hometown of Louisville, to where we live now in Southern Indiana. The Waterfront Development Corp opened the newly rehabbed walking bridge today, converting it from an old railroad bridge that hadn't been traveled upon since 1969. Lucky for us we were there at the exact right time for Mother Nature to create some amazing sunset pictures. Lucky indeed. And the bridge was pretty nifty, as well.

I decided to use one of the photos we captured tonight as inspiration and I'd love to say this is exactly what I envisioned when I sat down with my sketchbook. This one took on a life of its own, though I like the result. Thoughts?

Sketch a Day - Day 30

After the craziness that was this morning - tornadoes, sirens, power outtage - I thought we could do with a little calm. (This is a small piece of a soon-to-be-collection. Stay tuned...)

Sketch a Day - Day 18

I've been working with logo design and playing through several possibilities. I loved the idea of a hand-drawn logo, but nothing looked quite right. I did keep coming back to this little dotted lemon shape, though. It's made an appearance in several of my patterns, so I thought it fitting to use it here. Although unintentional, the placement of the shapes sort of forms a loose 'k'.

Sketch a Day - Day 14

Perhaps it's the frigid temps in the Ohio Valley, but I needed to try something a little more floral...
