Day 90 - Geo Tiles

Lots of paths this new art bit could go - trying not to get overwhelmed with the possibilities. Though I know I'd like to screen print a few products - perhaps some tea towels and napkins, scarves and tote bags? We'll see....

Each one of these blocks could be enlarged to be a tea towel or napkin, but I do like the look of the tiles.

Day 89 - Invitation/ Wallpaper Possibilities

Day 78 - Bullseye

I present my first ever pattern created in Illustrator. Super simple, but yay for new skills!

And, now I've got to go be a good alumnus and root for UofL. Go Cards!!!

Day 74 - Day Glo Herbs

Day 72 - Gettin' Egg-y With It

Began this while waiting for a screening of 'Girl Rising' at the Gheens Planetarium to begin this afternoon at U of L. Such moving stories.

Still needs work, but...

Day 71 - Many Leaves

Pattern from Day 62, with color. Lots of color.

This design will definitely end up as a tea towel and pillow cover.

Day 69 - ABC's

Working on ideas for screen prints. Tonight, it's a sweet print for a baby's room.

Day 68 - Be Different

I was at my friend's house tonight and we got into a great discussion about taking inspiration, and then doing your own thing.

On my way home I did some thinking, sometimes it's hard to put yourself out there and truly do your 'own' thing - in fact, it can be downright scary. Like when I started posting my drawings for the world to see. For me, it's like baring a bit of my soul. Even on the 68th day, I still get nervous pushing 'Publish' and then posting to Instagram. But on the whole, this exercise has been an amazing adventure.

So, I give you, 'Be Different.'

Day 66 - Plankton

A little sea life illustration for your Sunday afternoon.

Day 60 - Lovebird Fanciness

Day 57 - Japanese Kamon

I've long been fascinated with the kamon, or, Japanese family 'crest'. Such simple shapes with such a powerful meaning. You can find out more here. This is my own take on those wonderful shapes.

Day 56 - Cascading Leaves

There's a lot more that I'd like to do with this, but I'm feeling myself falling asleep at my desk. Perhaps another day....

Day 55 - Violets

It appears I'm a day behind...

Day 47 - Leaves

Yesterday, while we were watching the Indiana vs. Purdue game at our local pub, I sketched. (For the record, it wasn't much of a game (Go IU!) and I NEVER leave home without my sketchbook.)

One of the themes I worked on was a series of lines/ leaves. Here's a bit of a simple pattern I worked out, choosing the color palate first.

(Truth? The small lines are the happy accident of the spiral from my sketchbook scanning along with my drawings, repeated several times.)

Sketch a Day - Day 43

Example of what a simple line drawing of a branch with dots can morph into...

Sketch a Day - Day 35

Super simple - continuing the theme of Day 32 -

Snow Covered

Sketch a Day - Day 34

In honor of Charles Lindbergh's birthday today, a little pattern full of propellers. It didn't come out exactly as I'd planned, but this is a learning experience, right?
