Day 68 - Be Different

I was at my friend's house tonight and we got into a great discussion about taking inspiration, and then doing your own thing.

On my way home I did some thinking, sometimes it's hard to put yourself out there and truly do your 'own' thing - in fact, it can be downright scary. Like when I started posting my drawings for the world to see. For me, it's like baring a bit of my soul. Even on the 68th day, I still get nervous pushing 'Publish' and then posting to Instagram. But on the whole, this exercise has been an amazing adventure.

So, I give you, 'Be Different.'

Because of the windstorm last night our power kept flickering, so I couldn't post my pattern for last night. So tonight - you get two. This one is hand drawn leaves. Could be a cool tea towel pattern, or even a pillow cover...

Day 47 - Leaves

Yesterday, while we were watching the Indiana vs. Purdue game at our local pub, I sketched. (For the record, it wasn't much of a game (Go IU!) and I NEVER leave home without my sketchbook.) 

One of the themes I worked on was a series of lines/ leaves. Here's a bit of a simple pattern I worked out, choosing the color palate first. 

(Truth? The small lines are the happy accident of the spiral from my sketchbook scanning along with my drawings, repeated several times.)
