So, when I started my surface design class last November, I wasn't looking for any more than the basics to design fabric for my upholstering. But I got so much more.
I've always loved to draw, but never had a 'place' where my drawings 'fit.' Until now. What a wild six months it's been. I've created so much art since the beginning of November... I feel so lucky to finally have an outlet that fits. I needed this outlet so very much.
Through the (strong) urging of a few awesome friends, my amazing sister, and my super lovely husband, I'm going to be putting some of it out into the world. I can honestly say, I've never been more nervous about anything before. I've always created, but my art and drawings have always been so personal, almost secret. But it's time.
Dave and I have owned Panorama Creative Group, a boutique graphic design and publishing firm, for almost five years - him doing most of the designing, and me on the business development side. And we have collaborated on many, many projects. My favorite being this book cover. Those colorful stamps are one of my favorites of all time.
It's fitting that we should collaborate again - so we're in the baby stages of launching 'studio pano'. Basically, we like to make stuff, and this will be where you can find said handmade stuff. It'll be some screen printing, posters, tea towels, scarves... and anything else we can think up to collaborate on. We make an awesome team, so I'm very excited to see this happen.
Look for more updates soon!
This is exciting, Kristen! I can't wait to see what you guys produce!
